MakeAble Marketplace Policies

The rules of the MakeAble marketplace — how listings, orders, shipping, refunds, and payouts work.

Effective 10/10/2026. Last updated October 10, 2026. Version 2.

Draft policy. This page is newly structured and published for transparency. Business-specific terms are marked like this and are confirmed by the MakeAble Admin before they are final. Nothing here has been reviewed by a lawyer.

Marketplace rules

  • Listings must be honest: real photos of the finished item, accurate sizes, materials, and colors, and a truthful description of what it helps with.
  • Maker Shops are for accessibility solutions — every listing states the everyday challenge the product helps with.
  • Makers are independent makers of the items they sell. MakeAble handles the listing platform, payments, orders, and buyer support.
  • Items that are illegal, unsafe, or prohibited by the Community Guidelines and Safety & Responsible Use pages may not be listed, requested, or produced.
  • Prices on inventory items are set by the Maker. Prices on custom work are locked when the order is accepted — neither side can change them afterwards.

The full listing-removal and appeal process will be finalized by the MakeAble Admin.

See the Community Guidelines for behavior rules and Safety & Responsible Use for product safety.

Shipping, fulfillment, returns, refunds, cancellations & disputes

Shipping and fulfillment

  • Made-to-order items are produced after you order; ready-to-ship items leave the Maker after their stated handling time.
  • Shipping is the only delivery method today. When the Maker ships, the carrier and tracking number appear with your order.
  • Delivery dates depend on the Maker’s production time, the carrier, and the destination — MakeAble shows timeframes but does not guarantee delivery dates.

Standard production and delivery timeframes, and supported shipping destinations, will be confirmed by the MakeAble Admin.

Cancellations

  • Before payment, either side can cancel: the Maker releases the job, and reserved inventory returns to stock automatically.
  • After payment, cancellation needs MakeAble support so the payment can be refunded.

Returns, refunds, and disputes

  • Custom-made items are produced to your locked size and fit details, so they cannot be resold — returns are limited to items that arrive wrong, damaged, or not as described.
  • If something goes wrong, report it from your orders page (safety reports are reviewed first) or through Contact & Support. MakeAble reviews every case individually.
  • Refunds are issued back through the payment method, handled by MakeAble support case by case.

A standard refund window, condition requirements, and the dispute decision process will be confirmed by the MakeAble Admin.

Payments, fees, and payouts

  • Buyers pay for orders through MakeAble. Payments are processed by Base44 Payments.
  • MakeAble charges a platform fee: 10% of each order, with a minimum fee of $0.50. The fee is shown in full on every order before anyone commits.
  • Maker earnings for an order are the retail price minus the platform fee, locked when the order is accepted.
  • Maker payouts become eligible after an order ships, paid to the Maker’s own connected payout account.
  • Fee and payout settings may change over time, but the terms shown on an order at acceptance always apply to that order.

Payout schedule details (how quickly transfers arrive after release) will be confirmed by the MakeAble Admin.

See Maker Information for how payouts work in practice, and Seeker Information for the buyer\u2019s view.

Intellectual property and user-uploaded designs

  • Your projects and designs remain yours. MakeAble stores and processes them to provide the service, and they are private by default.
  • Publishing a design to the community is always your choice, and it gives MakeAble permission to display it in the community area. You confirm you have the right to share it.
  • A public community design may be used by other Makers to produce and sell finished items, with the original creator’s attribution preserved. A private design is never offered to anyone else; the creator chooses who can use their files.
  • Do not upload, publish, request, or produce content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property — including trademarks, patents, and copyrighted designs.

A formal takedown (DMCA-style) process and designated contact will be published by the MakeAble Admin.

Report suspected infringement through Contact & Support — IP reports are handled as a priority category.
