MakeAble Terms of Service

These terms describe how MakeAble works and what you can expect from it — and what MakeAble expects from the people who use it. They are written to be readable, not to hide anything.

About these terms

By creating a MakeAble account or using MakeAble, you agree to these terms. MakeAble is a platform that helps people describe problems, design 3D-printable solutions, and choose to print them at home or have a Maker produce and ship them.

Operating entity to be completed by the MakeAble Admin.

Your account

  • You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure.
  • You must provide accurate information when it is needed to produce what you ordered — especially sizes and measurements.
  • One person, one account. Do not share your account with others.

Acceptable use

MakeAble is for solving real problems. You agree not to misuse the service — see the Community Guidelines for the full, plain-language rules.

Your content and designs

  • Your projects and designs remain yours. MakeAble stores and processes them to provide the service.
  • Your designs are private by default. Publishing a design to the community is always your choice.
  • If you publish a design, you give MakeAble permission to display it in the community area, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
  • Do not upload or publish content that infringes someone else's intellectual property.

Maker participation

Makers are independent participants who choose to accept work orders. Joining the Maker program is free. Makers are responsible for the work they accept — see Maker Information for the full responsibilities.

Seeker responsibilities

When you ask to have something made, you are responsible for providing accurate sizes, measurements, device models, material needs, and shipping information. See Seeker Information for details.

Orders

  • An order is created when a Maker accepts your request, or when you order a ready-to-ship item from a Maker's inventory.
  • The design version, size and fit details, and price terms are locked with the order at that moment.
  • Both sides should treat the order details shown in MakeAble as the single source of truth.

Payments and fees

  • Seekers pay for qualifying orders through MakeAble. Payments are processed by Base44 Payments.
  • MakeAble charges a platform fee: 10% of each order, with a minimum fee of $0.50. The fee is shown in full on every order before anyone commits.
  • Makers receive payouts for qualifying completed work. Payouts become eligible after an order ships, according to the payout settings configured in MakeAble.
  • Fee and payout settings may change over time, but the terms shown on an order at acceptance apply to that order.

Shipping

Orders fulfilled by Makers are shipped to the Seeker. Shipping estimates vary with the Maker\'s production time, the carrier, the destination, and the circumstances of the order. Tracking information appears in MakeAble when the Maker provides it.

Cancellations and refunds

  • A Maker who cannot complete an accepted order can cancel it before payment, and the job returns to The Workshop.
  • Reserved inventory returns to stock automatically when an order is cancelled.
  • For paid orders that go wrong, refunds are handled through MakeAble support on a case-by-case basis — reach out through the Contact & Support page.

Disputes

If something goes wrong with an order, contact MakeAble support first through the Contact & Support page. MakeAble reviews reports and disputes case by case, including safety reports about received items.

Safety

MakeAble is a design and problem-solving platform, not a safety certification system. You are responsible for evaluating whether a design is appropriate for its intended use. Read Safety & Responsible Use before making or using anything — especially for medical, structural, electrical, vehicle, or child-safety purposes.

Prohibited uses

  • Do not use MakeAble to create anything illegal, or to harm yourself or others.
  • Do not request or produce prohibited or knowingly unsafe items.
  • Do not harass, defraud, or impersonate other users.
  • Do not misuse the service to infringe intellectual property or distribute malicious content.

AI limitations

MakeAble uses AI to help generate and refine designs. AI suggestions may be incorrect, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. A design being generated by MakeAble does not make it safe or effective. Always review designs before making or using them.

Third-party services

MakeAble relies on service providers to run — including its hosting platform and its payment processor. Their own terms apply to the services they provide.

Service availability

MakeAble is provided as an online service. We work to keep it available and working well, but we do not promise uninterrupted service or that every generated design will print successfully.

Account suspension and termination

MakeAble may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or the Community Guidelines, or that put other people at risk. Wherever possible, existing orders and earnings are handled fairly when this happens.

Limitation of liability

To the extent legally appropriate, MakeAble is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable damages arising from the use of the service, and MakeAble's responsibility for direct damages is limited where the law allows it.

This section is general and should be reviewed with qualified legal counsel before publication in your jurisdiction.

Governing law

Governing law and jurisdiction to be completed by the MakeAble Admin.

Changes to these terms

MakeAble may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes are published here with an updated date, and previous versions are archived for recordkeeping.
